Ken Totushek demoes his new Columbia baritone. This guitar has been gestating in my mind for over 5 years... I knew exactly what wood to use, the scale length, the sound I was after... and as I strung it up the first time I knew I got it right! Super rich low end with superb definition, sparkly overtones and not a hint of muddines in the lower mids. I love it!!!
It doesn't happen often that I have four of my guitars in the shop. These new ones will soon be shipped to dealers and new owners, so I thought I'd take the chance and whip something up with them. It is far from perfect and I wish I had more time to set it all up and practice properly, but I like the end result, it's honest!
The recording was done with one large condenser Rode microphone going through a Motu Ultralite, there is almost no post-processing, save for a bit of reverb on the Roe and Thames tracks. The video is shot on two Canon dslr cameras.
Enjoy!
Another video of Stephen Bennett playing a classic tune on his Columbia. The audio quality is pretty good, the execution flawless and it highlights the clear high register and the round bass.
Friend Matt Thomas sent me this video where he is jamming with Stephen Bennett: it sure looks like they are having a blast! Stephen is playing a Maxmonte Columbia with cedar top and rosewood back and sides.
